Eng. Abdullah Al-Ghamdi, Chief Executive Officer

Eng. Abdullah Al-Ghamdi serves as Chief Executive Officer at IMI, where he sets the direction for the company’s business expansion.

He is responsible for consolidating IMI’s position as the world’s largest full-service shipyard and strengthening its competitive edge as a global leader in the maritime industry, by effectively leveraging the combined expertise of its strategic partners. In a broader context, Mr. Al-Ghamdi’s efforts help align the company’s agenda with the groundbreaking goals of Saudi Vision 2030.

As CEO of IMI, Eng. Abdullah Al-Ghamdi sets the direction for IMI’s business expansion, consolidating its position as the largest full-service shipyard in the world, by effectively leveraging the combined industry expertise of its strategic partners.

During his tenure of over two decades at Saudi Aramco, he held a wide range of key leadership roles, including in industrial services, terminals, project management, new business development, and finance.

Al-Ghamdi’s track record as a CEO at the Saudi Engines Manufacturing Company (Makeen), where he oversaw the expansion of the company’s products and services through partnerships with iconic global industry sectors.

Chief Financial Officer

Feras Al-Sahan

Feras Al-Sahan, Chief Financial Officer

Feras Al-Sahan is the Chief Financial Officer at IMI, where he oversees the company’s financial planning, management, and forecasting. He has served as the CFO since his appointment to the role in October 2019.

Prior to joining IMI, Mr. Al-Sahan served as the Chief Financial Officer of two of Saudi Aramco’s Research and Technology subsidiaries. He has more than 24 years of experience across various fields of business.

During his tenure at the Kingdom’s energy giant, he held positions within the Corporate Planning and Controllers teams, and was also an internal auditor managing international operations audits, including affiliate and joint venture companies, downstream development activities, as well as sales, marketing, and logistics.

Yun-hyo Ahn

Yun-hyo Ahn, Chief Operating Officer, Ship Building & OSV Zones

As COO at IMI, Yun-hyo Ahn leads all activities related to shipbuilding and OSV zones.

Yun-hyo Ahn has over 30 years of shipbuilding experience with a proven track record in project management including detailed shipbuilding design for 9 years, preliminary design for 10 years, and production for 12 years, with experience in production and supply chain management. Supervising and managing the entire production process, from initial operations to external work and timely delivery.

 

Chief Operating Officer - Rig Building & MRO Zones

Darren Macdonald

Darren Macdonald, Chief Operating Officer, Rig Building and MRO Zones

Darren MacDonald leads operations for all new-build rigs, as well as maintenance, repair, and overhaul (MRO) as Chief Operating Officer at IMI. He brings longstanding expertise to the role, including in project delivery and meeting operational business requirements. Mr. Macdonald is an experienced and proven business leader and project manager with 30 years of experience in Offshore Oil & Gas, Marine, and Naval Ship Building fields.

This encompasses both EPC New Build programs and all aspects of MRO.Mr. Macdonald holds professional accreditations in Engineering and Program Management.

Senior Vice President, Operation Services

Abdulaziz Sabri

Abdulaziz Sabri, Senior Vice President, Operation Services

Abdulaziz Sabri serves as the Senior Vice President of Operation Services at IMI since January 2025.

Prior to his role at IMI, he served as President of Ship Management (2018-2022), one of the six business units of Bahri, the world’s leading transport and logistics company. Mr. Sabri’s time at Bahri began in 2015, when he was hired as Vice President of Technical Services, before being appointed Vice President of Fleet Management in 2016, In addition to his extensive experience in shipbuilding.

Yasser Al-Shehri

Yasser Al-Shehri, Senior Vice President, Corporate Services 

Yasser Al-Shehri serves as the Senior Vice President of Corporate Services at IMI, bringing more than 18 years of leadership experience from the private, oil & gas, and manufacturing sectors. He currently oversees a comprehensive portfolio including HR, IT, Digitalization, Cybersecurity, Corporate Communication, Facility Management, Industrial Security, Fire Protection, and HSE.

Prior to IMI, Mr. Al-Shehri served as Vice President at MAKEEN (2021-2025). During the setup phase, he had a critical role in defining the company’s strategic direction, establishing eight core corporate functions, managing shareholder relations and securing robust rapport with key government bodies.

Before joining IMI, Mr. Al-Ghamdi held a wide range of key leadership roles at Saudi Aramco across a tenure spanning over two decades, including in industrial services, terminals, project management, new business development, and finance.

His time at Saudi Aramco was preceded by an impressive track record as Chief Executive Officer at the Saudi Engines Manufacturing Company (Makeen), where he oversaw the expansion of the company’s products and services through partnerships with iconic global industry sectors.

Feras Al-Sahan

Feras Al-Sahan is the Chief Financial Officer at IMI, where he oversees the company’s financial planning, management, and forecasting. He has served as the CFO since his appointment to the role in October 2019.

Prior to joining IMI, Mr. Al-Sahan served as the Chief Financial Officer of two of Saudi Aramco’s Research and Technology subsidiaries. He has more than 24 years of experience across various fields of business.

Mr. Al-Sahan began his career in 2000 in the banking sector as an international shares dealer.

He holds a bachelor’s degree in Finance and a Master of Business Administration (MBA) from King Fahd University of Petroleum and Minerals. He is also a Certified Internal Auditor (CIA). In addition, he has completed several executive leadership programs at INSEAD Business School and London Business School.

Yun-hyo Ahn

Chief Operating Officer, Ship Building & OSV Zones

As COO at IMI, Yun-hyo Ahn leads all activities related to shipbuilding and OSV zones.

Yun-hyo Ahn has over 30 years of shipbuilding experience with a proven track record in project management including detailed shipbuilding design for 9 years – preliminary design for 10 years -and production for 12 years, with experience in production and supply chain management. Supervising and managing the entire production process, from initial operations to external work and timely delivery.

Yun-hyo Ahn started his career in 1993 at HD Hyundai Heavy Industries (HHI) as a shipbuilding design engineer, in 2002 he was the lead engineer in the preliminary design department. in 2005 and 2010 he participated in the PMA/Noise working groups. in 2012 he was the Chief engineer of the ship hull construction department. He assumed the position of General Manager of the production department in 2015 and specializes in various departments to ensure successful project implementation.

 Yun-hyo Ahn Graduated from Busan National University in South Korea with a bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering.

Darren Macdonald

Chief Operating Officer, Rig Building & MRO Zones

Abdulaziz Sabri

Senior Vice President, Operation Services

Abdulaziz Sabri serves as the Senior Vice President of Operation Services at IMI since January 2025.

Prior to his role at IMI, he served as President of Ship Management (2018-2022), one of the six business units of Bahri, the world’s leading transport and logistics company. Mr. Sabri’s time at Bahri began in 2015, when he was hired as Vice President of Technical Services, before being appointed Vice President of Fleet Management in 2016, In addition to his extensive experience in shipbuilding.

Mr. Sabri brings more than three decades of experience in shipping and technical ship management services for VLCCs, chemical and product tankers, as well as bulk carriers.
Over his long and distinguished career, Mr. Sabri has built a proven track record of establishing new businesses, developing and strengthening institutional capabilities, and increasing revenues and profitability.

He had started his career at Saudi Aramco, joining in 1989 as a maintenance engineer. In 1996, he moved to Vela International Marine Ltd., the maritime arm of Saudi Aramco, where he spent the next 18 years in various roles, including as site manager at the company’s South Korean shipyardoffice, and then as director of fleet operations.

In 2020, Mr. Sabri was awarded the Maritime Standard Excellence Award for his tremendous contribution to the shipping industry over the past decades.

Yasser Al-Shehri

Senior Vice President, Corporate Services 

Yasser Al-Shehri serves as the Senior Vice President of Corporate Services at IMI, bringing more than 18 years of leadership experience from the private, oil & gas, and manufacturing sectors. He currently oversees a comprehensive portfolio including HR, IT, Digitalization, Cybersecurity, Corporate Communication, Facility Management, Industrial Security, Fire Protection, and HSE.

Prior to IMI, Mr. Al-Shehri served as Vice President at MAKEEN (2021-2025). During the setup phase, he had a critical role in defining the company’s strategic direction, establishing eight core corporate functions, managing shareholder relations and securing robust rapport with key government bodies.

Yasser’s extensive career at Saudi Aramco spanned roles from engineer to manager, specializing in gas turbine maintenance and overhaul. He led maintenance and upgrade projects across over 17 oil and gas plants, enhancing the maintenance operating model for the company’s gas turbine fleet across a wide geographical area, including major facilities in the West, Central, and Eastern regions.

In 2015, Mr. Al-Shehri spent one year in the UK where he served as a Production Engineer at Chromalloy, managing the refurbishment operation of critical gas turbine components, and overseeing inspection, repair, heat treatment, and coating.

Yasser was awarded the prestigious Saudi Aramco CEO Excellence Award (2020), and was also honored in 2024 with the “Award for Excellence” from Hyundai Heavy Industries (HHI) in Ulsan, South Korea.

Yasser holds a Master’s degree in Manufacturing and Mechanical Engineering from Dublin City University, Ireland, and a Bachelor’s degree in Applied Mechanical Engineering from King Fahd University of Petroleum and Minerals (KFUPM). He has completed several leadership programs, including the Saudi Aramco-Harvard Joint Leadership Program.
